Wilton High School Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

Today, officials from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) announced the names of over 16,000 Semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have the opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 6,870 National Merit Scholarships, valued at nearly $26 million, which will be awarded next spring.

Congratulations to Wilton High School students who have been named Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit® Scholarship Program:

  • Isaac D. Downs
  • Robert J. Eskenazi
  • Hannah L. Hsu
  • Caleb S. Sharp
  • Annabelle X. Zheng

To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will earn a National Merit Scholarship, securing the title of Merit Scholar®.

NMSC, a nonprofit organization operating without government assistance, was founded in 1955 to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are funded by NMSC’s own resources and by approximately 280 business organizations, higher education institutions, and individual donors who share NMSC’s mission of honoring academic excellence and encouraging the pursuit of scholarly achievement.
