Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You’re IT Historical Christmas Barn!

Three questions with Jennifer Bean, owner of The Historical Christmas Barn.

Why did you start your business?

We were customers of The Historical Christmas Barn for many years.  When we noticed it was for sale ten years ago, we thought we could maintain this charming shop and bring/grow it into the next decade.  We are grateful to the wonderful customers who have supported us!

Bestselling product/service?

Ornaments!  But also:  string lights, candles, European/Scandinavian items, American-made items,  tabletop trees and artificial greens, sprays, wreaths, Halloween, Easter and Patriotic decor...

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We rely on so many local businesses all year long from Milford to New Canaan.  Here is a short list of a few in Wilton:  Ace Hardware, Earth Garden, Naked Greens, Ring's End,  Goldenberry/Charles Clay Ribbons, Village Market, Abbey Tent, Taylor Rental and several local artists.

The Historical Christmas Barn is located at 150 Danbury Road in Wilton. Visit them online here.
