Wilton 5th Grade Football Defeated New Canaan Over the Weekned

5th Grade: Wilton White 24 – New Canaan Black 6

The 5th Grade White Warriors completed their regular season with a perfect record of 7 wins and no losses by defeating New Canaan Black 24 to 6 this past Sunday at Fujitani Field. Wilton scored first on a quarterback sneak by George Hahn. The score was set up when fullback William Sullivan ran the ball 45-yards to the 1-yard line. Wilton would score on the first play of the second quarter when halfback Tommy McKiernan ran 67 yards for a touchdown. The Warriors would add a third touchdown right before the half on another George Hahn quarterback sneak from 1-yard out. Wilton went into halftime with a 24 to 0 lead. Michael Wall kicked 3-two point extra point conversions. Offensive linemen; Carter Galante, Connor Sweeney, Michael Byrnes, Jake McIntyre, Andre Wiest, William Drew, and Jackson Duncan were awesome holding their blocks and creating running lanes. Wide receivers James Flynn, and Michael Wall ran terrific routes.

New Canaan scored a touchdown in the third quarter but it was the only opportunity they would have against the stingy Warrior defense. The Warrior defense led by Jake Masek, William McCormack, Ryan Preisano, Jackson Kreter, Zachary Krawitz, Matthew Dooley, and a couple of big tackles by William Soojian. Tommy McKiernan had two interceptions and nearly a third. William Sullivan had numerous drive stopping tackles, and Jake Masek and Jackson Duncan each had sacks. The Warriors start a new season with the playoffs in two weeks. They have earned a first week bye to prepare for the championship run.
