Town of Ridgefield to form Leaf Blower Task Force

A recent petition for proposed revisions to the Town Ordinance regarding gas-powered leaf blowers sparked an immense reaction from residents. The Board of Selectpersons received hundreds of responses (both for and against the changes) at the Public Hearing and BOS meetings and through emails and letters.

The petition has since been withdrawn in response to raised concerns over many of the logistics in the proposal. In order to carry out due diligence, the Town of Ridgefield will be forming a Leaf Blower Task Force.

The Task Force will be charged with investigating the advantages, disadvantages, logistics, financial repercussions, and other components of restricting the use of gas-powered leaf blowers. It will be made up of a cross section of 9 residents; three who are in support of an ordinance change, three who are opposed to an ordinance change, and three who are unbiased.

The Board of Selectpersons will be interviewing candidates to appoint to the Task Force. All applicants will need to provide their credentials and their stance on the previously proposed amendments. If you are interested in joining the Task Force, email selectman@ridgefieldct.gov or call 203-431-2774
