The RHS Music Department is proud to announce that Hayden Webb is June’s music student of the month. His love of performance, skilled leadership, and talent has made him a greatly valued member of the community.
Hayden began to play the bass in fourth grade, and immersed himself in the world of music. As he continued to grow as a musician, Hayden proceeded to play in both the Jazz Band, and the Symphonic Orchestra at Ridgefield High School. His devotion to the RHS music program has led him to be the section leader for the rhythm section of the Jazz band, where he is able to assist his peers in becoming better musicians.
Not only does Hayden participate in two music ensembles at Ridgefield High School, he also played in the Western-Regional and All-State ensembles outside of school, allowing himself to explore many different types of music. When discussing his best memories with the music community, Hayden said playing gigs with the Jazz Band was an incredible experience.
Jazz Band Conductor George Beratis says, “Hayden has been a pillar (and a savior) in our music, and more specifically, our jazz band community. It isn’t often you get a student at the high school level that is able to seamlessly transition from playing upright bass to electric bass exceptionally in both the jazz and classical idiom. Hayden came into high school with an already strong foundation, but continued to work hard at his craft and involve himself in all aspects of our program. He became amongst the best young jazz bassists in the state of Connecticut. We will really miss him and we are proud of all his accomplishments. ”
Hayden is graduating from Ridgefield High School this year, and will be attending Rice University, majoring in aerospace engineering. Hayden will be greatly missed by the Ridgefield High School Music community after making such a profound impact on both his teachers and his fellow peers. The community wishes him the best of luck in college, and is so excited to see him continue to succeed.
