Former Town of Ridgefield Fire Marshal, David Lathrop has Died

New Milford native David Lathrop, a former member of the IAFF Local 1739 and Fire Marshal for the Town of Ridgefield Fire Department has died.

According to his obituary, David graduated from New Milford High school and went on to work for the United States Postal Service, until he was offered his dream job as Fire Marshal for the Town of New Milford. 

Fellow members of Water Witch Hose Co. #2 of New Milford where David served the community for 54 years remark, “To say Dave wore many hats would be an understatement; he is a true testament to the spirit of the fire service. Dave's legacy will leave a lasting impression on all who met him. Rest Easy Sir, we will proudly carry your light with us.”

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. on Monday, January 8th, at Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. at Lillis Funeral Home 58 Bridge Street., New Milford on Tuesday, January 9th. A graveside service will follow at Center Cemetery in New Milford, CT.
