Exciting Changes at the Ridgefield Playhouse Ahead of its 25th Anniversary

Exciting changes are coming to the Ridgefield Playhouse this season. In July, the Playhouse welcomed its new Director of Programming, Dan Binderman, following the departure of Co-Executive Director of Programming, Jared Shahid. Binderman brings a diverse background in the performing arts, having worked with organizations such as Carnegie Hall's New York Pops, World Music Institute, KnitMedia/Knitting Factory (with City Winery's Michael Dorf), Cambridge's famed ImprovBoston theater, and Shooting Gallery Films. Most recently, Binderman served as General & Artistic Director of The Suffolk Theater in Eastern Long Island, where he booked and produced over 600 shows with legendary artists such as Mavis Staples, Judy Collins, Arlo Guthrie, Lil Kim, Art Garfunkel, Marlon Wayans, Gilbert Gottfried, and Chris Robinson.

Executive Director Ashley Paltauf states, “Dan brings a wealth of experience in the performing arts and has demonstrated both creativity and expertise that will be instrumental in shaping the future of our programming. His exceptional skills in program development, combined with his dedication to the arts and commitment to excellence, will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of the Ridgefield Playhouse.”

“In his new role, Dan will put together a season of performances across all genres of music, scout and organize talent from all over, and develop new ideas to engage and inspire our audiences. He will also be looking into new trends and themes to make our offerings even more engaging while attracting new talent. Dan will work closely with the programming, production, and marketing teams to ensure a smooth transition and make a positive impact.”

Additionally, the Playhouse will launch its updated and improved website on August 27, 2024. The primary goal of the redesign process is to create a user-centric and responsive website across all platforms and devices. Its homepage has been redesigned to be mobile-friendly, including moving the announcement bar to the top of the page and recognizing platinum and gold sponsors in a prominent rotating slider. Every member of the Ridgefield Playhouse team had a hand in the website’s creation.
