St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ridgefield (353 Main Street) is partnering with Braver Angels in a community-wide discussion on Wednesday, June 19, at 7 p.m. in the church’s North Hall. The topic: “Should Religion Play a Role in Politics?” Braver Angels, a national, grassroots, non-partisan and non-religious organization founded in 2016, is bringing this free event to Ridgefield as part of its mission to bridge the political divide and strengthen our nation’s democratic republic.
According to Gary Holland, a Ridgefield resident and Braver Angels volunteer, “This debate is a space in which participants from across the ideological spectrum will have an opportunity to speak freely and ask questions within parameters that safeguard everyone’s human dignity.” He added: “It may be interesting to view the documentary film Bad Faith before this event as an example of the complexity of the topic of religion and politics. Several streaming services carry it, including Tubi, You Tube and Amazon Prime.”
