When Kristin Krebs lost her sister and her dog of 13 years within 10 days of each other, it hit her hard.
“My doctor said my body was dealing with a lot of trauma – and the anxiety was causing panic attacks,” the New Fairfield woman said of the crisis that brought her to Grow Wellness in Ridgefield. “When I met Kathleen, I had never done yoga before but it was recommended by my medical doctor.”
The results? Nothing short of transformational.
“I started doing the restorative yoga by Kathleen, the owner, and it truly changed my life around,” Krebs said. “I was more focused on the moment - and not the ‘what ifs.’ It was able to bring me back to center.”
Grow Wellness founder Kathleen Jaramillo Kweskin isn’t surprised. She founded the sanctuary seven years ago after taking care of her mother while she was fighting cancer. “She was very lonely in her pain and her entire body was failing her,” Jaramillo Kweskin said. “I wish there was a place like this for her.” The studio’s modalities are also trauma informed.
Located on Route 7, the studio offers healing workshops, yoga, reiki, reflexology, massage, sauna, hypnotherapy and other spiritual offerings. Jaramillo Kweskin said they’re seeing more people diving into energy healing to transcend blocks in their lives. She calls it a “Great Awakening” in our society – much like the Industrial Revolution and other major turning points. “People who had zero interest in yoga or reiki five years ago are saying I need to try this,” she said. “If you’re afraid of new beginnings, or are anxiety ridden, we look at how we can move past that…whether it’s physically, mentally or spiritually.”
“I would tell anyone who hasn’t been there yet to just go get a massage,” said Cava Koczeniak, “and you will walk into Grow Wellness and it’s just a feeling you will have. You don’t know you need it until you are there.”
Erika Wahlers seconds that. “Grow Wellness has truly transformed my life as I embarked on my journey as a teacher. The reiki and massage sessions have been a lifeline for my soul, allowing me to nurture and rejuvenate my mind, body and spirit when I needed it most,” she said. “In moments of struggle, whether battling long Covid or navigating difficult times, Grow Wellness has been my sanctuary of healing and hope.”
Jaramillo Kweskin said they continue to treat people like her mother who are undergoing health challenges – just like she intended from Grow Wellness’ founding. “Everyone on our team is so loving and caring,” she said. We never turn anyone away.”
