Locals are buzzing about a charming organic market and cafe that has opened in the historic Union Hall building in North Salem NY.Daniel Pereira, one of the owners, has been in the industry for over 15 years and always had a dream to open up his own store at a place reminicent of a vacation spot.Pereira says, "The Market at Union Hall is the perfect place! It makes me feel so grateful to be at a place that is filled with love and character."The Market at Union Hall sells local meats, eggs, milk and cheeses - all from local farmers. "We also offer a large variety of groceries, frozen foods and dairy products also," says Pereira. And there's plenty of sweets to sink your teeth into at The Market at Union Hall. Locally made cakes, croissant, muffins, scones and cookies, as well as gluten-free baked goods including corn-coconut cakes baked by Pereira, are some of the tasty pastries you'll find inside this picturesque cafe."Our coffee is from a local source also," says Pereira. In fact, Pereira adds, "The people that I buy the coffee from travel all over South American countries and buy the best coffee bean, brings it to United States and roasts it themselves at their facility in Tarrytown NY."Some elements of his business are not just "perks" but necessities. When Pereira learned that the Tarrytown coffee company did not spray their coffee trees with chemicals or any pesticides, he knew it was a company he wanted to work with.Pereira made it his mission to not only know source locally, but to have an understanding of principles and background of each farmer. "I'm a true believer that we are what we put in our bodies."The Market at Union Square is open 7 days a week:
