Temple Sherith Israel Announces Installation of Rabbi Reiner

Temple Shearith Israel Rabbi David Reiner Installation

Please join the Temple Shearith Israel community as we officially celebrate Rabbi David Levy Reiner's installation on Friday, April 4, at 6:00pm. The installation and Shabbat service is followed by a dinner with the new Rabbi and his wife, Ashly Heller.

Since joining TSI as its spiritual leader in June 2013, Rabbi Reiner has delivered the opening prayer at Ridgefield's annual commemoration of September 11th, the sermon at the town-wide Thanksgiving service, and the keynote address at the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Says Rabbi Reiner,

"I am honored, blessed, and thrilled to be serving Temple Shearith Israel's wonderful and talented congregation and the Ridgefield community. I seek to inspire growth in our community through deepening relationships with others and through helping members of our congregation find deeper meaning and relationship with Jewish traditions and values that have defined our people for many generations. Building from our strong foundation, I am committed to helping our congregation grow, and be a warm and welcoming center for Jewish life in the greater Ridgefield community."

Before joining TSI, Rabbi Reiner was the rabbi at Temple Beth-El in Geneva, NY, and the Hillel rabbi at the University of Rochester. He graduated cum laude from the University of Rochester and was ordained at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, from which he also received a master's in Hebrew letters. He studied at Harvard Divinity School and is on the Human Rights Commission in Geneva and the board of the Commission on Christian Jewish Relations of the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester in Rochester. Rabbi Reiner is the son of the esteemed Rabbi Fred Reiner, Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Sinai in Washington, D.C., and the late Dr. Sherry Levy-Reiner, former Director of Development for the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism. Rabbi Reiner is well known for his numerous religious and community activities. He is married to Ashley Susan Heller, a software consultant for Ariba, an office management software provider.
