Twenty-five year old Michael Keane has been working on cars since he was 16 years old. Just last month, the business savvy and passionate entrepreneur opened his second automotive repair shop, Keane's Autoworks II, at 63 Ethan Allen Highway in Ridgefield.
A graduate of John Jay High School in South Salem, Keane went on to earn a Justice and Law Degree from Western Connecticut State University. "I was working at a [automotive repair] shop in Bedford at night while taking classes," says Keane.
Shortly after graduating from West Conn, Keane learned that the Bedford shop that employed him was on the brink of closing. "I had the option to start my own business as long as I agreed to the terms of the lease," says Keane, who admits it was a tough decision. "I had to decide whether or not I should apply for jobs or take a risk and build a business," says Keane
In 2011, after securing a loan from his grandmother, Keane's Autoworks of Bedford was born. "I begged my grandma to borrow $10,000 and started in April of 2011 with nothing but an empty building," says Keane. The generous loan from grandma, set the wheels in motion and the Bedford building was soon bustling with business and has been growing strong for three years.
While the shop services all makes and models, Keane says they specialize in BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW's and Land Rovers. "We have 5 great technicians and all of the diagnostics equipment," says Keane. What's more, Keane says, "Our services and repairs do not void the dealer warranty and price."
Keane Autoworks will pick up you vehicle and deliver it back to you after the repairs have been made. "People really like the convenience factor," says Keane.
"I believe that if you treat people right and fix their cars right and for a reasonable price, there should be no reason not to succeed," says Keane.
