Norwalk, CT: Adding to the diverse dining scene in Norwalk, Georgian Authentic Cuisine makes its debut with Cheese & Bread, opening this weekend at 68 Washington Street in South Norwalk. Seasoned restaurateurs Andrea Archvadze and Akaki Andguladze, who came to the US from Georgia (located between Turkey and Russia), launched the original Cheese & Bread in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, in 2023. Their casual eatery, specializing in authentic Georgian cuisine—a blend of influences from Iran, Asia, Turkey, and the Mediterranean—quickly became a hit. Now, looking to introduce their culinary heritage to a new audience, Andrea and Akaki have partnered with the CT/NY-based real estate collective AGW Partners to open their first Connecticut location at the corner of Washington and Main Streets in South Norwalk.
Before Cheese & Bread, Andrea and Akaki successfully ran Royal Garden Tbilisi (2017) and Royal Palace Tbilisi (2021) in Brooklyn. They sold these ventures to their business partners in 2023 to start their own restaurant journey.
“We are excited to be the first Georgian restaurant in Connecticut,” says Andrea. “Our plan is to open more Cheese & Bread locations throughout Connecticut, New York, and beyond. We believe this concept will resonate with people in both big cities and small towns.”
Cheese & Bread will be open for breakfast (starting in August), lunch, and dinner. The restaurant will feature a coffee bar menu throughout the day and a full beer, wine, and spirits bar. The seating capacity ranges from 100-140, including a private events room with its own bar.
With its unique offerings and welcoming atmosphere, Cheese & Bread is set to become a favorite dining destination in Norwalk.
