He recently shot a lead in the independent feature AFTERSHOCK. Lawson is known for FOR COLORED GIRLS, POLTERGEIST, and HOW STELLA GOT HER GROOVE BACK. RICHARD has won two L.A.Drama Critics Awards: one for the play "STREAMERS", and another for "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM.” In addition, he won an NAACP Image Award for his role on the TV soap opera ALL MY CHILDREN.
