New Yoga Classes Just for Kids and Teens

Sama Yoga in New Canaan Offering Youth Programming this Spring

New Canaan’s Sama Yoga is offering new youth programming for kids aged 7 - 18 beginning April 6.  Three separate programs, all eight-week series, will be offered, including programs for boys and girls ages 7-11, pre-teens and young teens ages 11-14, and teens ages 14-18.

“Yoga offers immeasurable benefits for every age, especially kids,” says Rebekah Jacobs, Director of Sama Yoga. “A yoga practice enhances mental and physical balance, focus, strength, flexibility, confidence and sensitivity to the world around us. It can be a tremendous help for kids navigating an increasingly fast-paced world.”

The specially-designed youth programs include:

  • YOGA FOR YOUNG ATHLETES, BOYS AND GIRLS AGES 7-11: Designed for the young athlete looking to enhance performance through increased flexibility and focus. Wednesdays 3:30 - 4:30 pm. Eight week series begins Wednesday, April 6. 
  • CO-ED YOGA CAMP, AGES 11-14: Designed to help early teens and pre-teens learn tools to help navigate these years in a warm and compassionate setting. Fridays 3:30 - 4:30 pm. Eight week series begins Friday, April 8. 
  • YOGA IRL (YOGA IN REAL LIFE), TEENS AGES 14-18: Special series for teens only. Designed to help teens develop, strength, space, confidence and flexibility in a safe and supportive environment. Thursdays 3:30 - 4:30 pm. Eight week series begins Thursday, April 7.                                                                                         

Registration for all sessions is now open in Sama Yoga’s studio at 45 Grove Street in New Canaan, or online at samayogacenter.com. All programs are $180 for the series.
