Over 200 handmade cards were delivered to local Senior Citizens at the Office for Senior Resources’ Annual Valentine’s Day Luncheon in Carmel, NY today.
Performing arts students attending Seven Star School classes were provided with materials to create special Valentine’s Days cards as part of the school’s S.T.A.R. Up community outreach program. The acronym stands for “Serving Today Always Reaching UP” which supports Seven Star School’s commitment to teaching classes wrapped around life lessons including giving back to the community.
The seniors were delighted as they read the cards. Pre-School Director, Jacqueline Madera stated, “The kids worked very hard on creating the cards and it was heartwarming to see the seniors’ reactions to the Valentine’s Day cards.”
“This is our second year bringing Valentines
cards to the seniors and it is an annual event we plan to continue for many years to come. Activities like this teach our students about giving back to the community and reaching out to those in need of our help,” explains owner Nicole Aravena.
The S.T.A.R. Up program contributes to homeless shelters, veterans organizations, Girl Scouts, local schools, and other nonprofit organizations. For more information, visit www.SevenStarSchool.com.
