After a long, warm summer, the night air is ever-so-slowly beginning to cool off and the leaves are starting to show signs or yellow, orange and red. The colorful season of autumn upon us. And in Connecticut, with over 60 varieties of apples grown, autumn means apple picking. Let's face it, there really is nothing better than a juicy, freshly picked apple.
Fairfield County offers two perennial favorites for apple picking: Blue Jay Orchards in Bethel and Silverman's Farm in Easton. Silverman's is NOW OPEN for picking Gala Red Apples and Macintosh. Blue Jay Orchards Pick Your Own Apples DAILY, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (read a special note from the Orchard here.)
Fall on the farm road trip? Connecticut Apples website is a fantastic resource for prime picking spots throughout the state. Happy picking!
