As you weather the storms of life know that you can be the sunshine.
Splash of Pink, a privately owned Lilly Pulitzer store in Westport CT for 18 years, opened a pop-up shop in New Canaan (NC) last year with a plan to close in the winter and reopen in March 2020. Covid changed that. We were not even sure that we would open at all and if we did, it would have been only until September.
On an impulse, we pulled together and opened in New Canaan on July 1. The welcoming from the town was wonderful! We quickly became the go-to for bright happy colors and prints in clothes and accessories, especially our masks, during a dark time. Customers embraced our sunny atmosphere and were eager to come in and chat about life.
During the massive storm and power outage, the community really pulled together and supported downtown. We had light and air conditioning but no internet. That did not stop us from old school retail of handwriting dozens of receipts for the countless number of customers who came in for cool air, conversation and a few treats to take home. We were the Happy Place.
This summer has brought us so many new friends and customers from NC and surrounding areas including New York that we had to stay.
We are proud to be a part of New Canaan and look forward to getting more involved with the community and spreading the sunshine!
