Westport Book Shop Celebrates Children's Book "Bradford's Walk", Nov. 4

Westport, CT - Westport Book Shop will be hosting a children's book reading and signing of "Bradford's Walk" with author Denis O'Neill and illustrator Cyrus Quadland, on Saturday, November 4, at 10:30am.  

Join author Denis O'Neill and illustrator Cyrus Quadland as they share "Bradford's Walk", a charming tale that celebrates the adventures of a lovable brown dog named Bradford, set against the backdrop of Westport! This enchanting tale not only celebrates the adventures of a dog but also the beauty of the town. It captures the essence of Westport, Connecticut, and the simple pleasures of daily walks that all can relate to.

Denis O'Neill is a multi-talented author, screenwriter and producer with a diverse body of work spanning literature, film and television. A Westport native, Denis' roots run deep in the town, where he lived for six decades. In addition to "Bradford's Walk", he has written "Canis Dirus", an outdoor thriller set in Yosemite National Park, "Pandemic Musings" and a Dartmouth College memoir capturing the essence of the 1960s. In the realm of cinema, O'Neill co-wrote and co-produced "The River Wild" (1994) and he was the screenwriter and an executive producer of "A Shot at Glory" (2001). His work in television as a writer and producer for WGBH TV in Boston encompasses a wide range of shows, including the renowned "Frontline". He has also contributed articles to various publications, including The Christian Science Monitor, Sports Illustrated and The Boston Globe. O'Neill hold a Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and a Master's degree in Journalism from Boston University School of Public Communications. 

Illustrator Cyrus Quadland grew up in a farmhouse in Northern Westchester. He attended Somers Central School and St. George’s School in Newport, RI, where he and Denis O’Neill were both in the class of 1966. While at St. George’s, Cy studied art with renowned New England artist, Richard Grosvenor. During school he was awarded the Second General Excellence Prize in the New England Preparatory Schools show. After school and college, Cy was drafted and served in Vietnam, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. Since then, Cy has studied at the Art Students League in New York and participated in a touring veterans show which exhibited his work at the Library of Congress and Arlington National Cemetery. Cy loves animals and has had many pets throughout his life -- dogs, cats, fish, a lizard and a snake. He currently resides in Beacon, NY.

Westport Book Shop, a nonprofit independent used book store, is downtown Westport’s only source for previously read and greatly appreciated used and antiquarian books, vintage vinyl records, CDs, DVDs and audio books. It is located at 23 Jesup Road, right across Jesup Green and the Westport Library.
