Pet Pantry Warehouse Opens 7th Location in Fairfield, CT

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Pet Pantry Warehouse opened the doors to its seventh location, at 1876 Blackrock Turnpike, Fairfield, Connecticut, last week. The family-owned and -operated store is approximately 3,000 square feet and features a hand-selected range of products and pet food brands that support animal health and well-being. The business is also equipped with a passionate staff that is thoroughly trained and tested in pet nutrition.

In early September 2018, Pet Pantry of Fairfield will partner with Adopt-a-Dog (adopt-a-dog.org) to host a private grand opening "Ribbon Chewing" event for the business community, with Fairfield First Selectman, Michael Tetreau; Beverly Balaz, President at Fairfield Chamber of Commerce; and Mark Barnhart, Fairfield Director of Community and Economic Development. Then, on Saturday, September 8, and Sunday, September 9, Pet Pantry will provide the public with retail discounts and free gift-with-purchase giveaways. A sampling from the “Bone Bar” with Pet Pantry signature "Barktenders" will be available to shoppers along with activities for kids. Ten percent of the pre-tax sales at the Fairfield location throughout the Grand Opening Weekend will be donated to Adopt-a-Dog as well as Al’s Angels, a local non-profit that provides support to children and families battling cancer, rare blood disease, natural disasters & severe financial hardship.

Leading up to these events, Pet Pantry Warehouse will partner with Fairfield HamletHub to host a dog-friendly "Yappy Hour" on Wednesday, August 8, at Little Pub (2133 Black Rock Turnpike) from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. "As a local, family-run business, we understand the importance of giving back to the communities in which we operate. We regularly give back to local schools, religious institutions and charities, as well as local youth sports teams. We also provide donations to local Police, Fire and Ambulatory services", said Adam Jacobson, Store Co-owner and a Fairfield resident. Jacobson's family purchased the Pet Pantry brand in 1995 and has turned it into a quality, hyperlocal hub for all pet-related products in Fairfield and Westchester County. The family-owned business prides itself on being community driven and regularly hosts entertaining fundraising and educational events for customers and families in the community.

Adam and his brother/business partner, Ari Jacobson, moved to Fairfield several years ago to raise their families. "When deciding to raise our children, both my brother and I looked around at many communities in Fairfield County, but none of them were quite like the Town of Fairfield," said Ari. He continued, "Not only because of the fact that there are five miles of beach but rather, it has a rich history of supporting local, family-owned businesses. I love taking my kids to the local bakeries and ice cream shops or out to dinner in some of the great restaurants in town. We enjoy live music downtown and can just hang out at the parks with our pets. So opening one of our pet supply stores in this town, our town, was a natural extension for us."

Both Adam and Ari believe that establishing a local business in the town where one lives and is raising kids is a great way to teach younger generations the value of hard work and the need to invest in the community. Adam and his wife, Melissa, are parents to seven-year-old twins, Eli and Maya, and Ari and his wife, Marissa, are parents to Jonah (7), Zachary (6) and Sarina (3). Together, the families have four dogs; a Norwich Terrier named Cody, a French Bulldog named Gunnie, a Yorkie named Zoe and a Pitbull named Storm.

Pet Pantry customers can expect help selecting the correct pet food and formula to meet their individual animal companions’ needs for optimum health. The vision behind the Pet Pantry brand culture is that a pet should thrive and not just survive. "The staff at Pet Pantry are all really knowledgeable and extremely helpful," said Suzy Armstrong, a realtor based in Greenwich, Connecticut. "The customer experience is worth the trip to the store. I stopped shopping online for my dogs after visiting Pet Pantry. I really love the new Raised Right brand that the retailer carries. My dog is more active and seems to be in better health since we transitioned Coco to that brand."

In addition to human-grade dog food options, Pet Pantry’s Fairfield customers will also have access to a self-service pet wash. The pet wash is intended to be a convenience to clients, but will also be a fundraising opportunity for local schools, animal adoption agencies and other worthy local causes. Anyone interested in the "Petwash Fundraiser" can contact Pet Pantry for details (info@ppwpet.com).

About Pet Pantry Warehouse
The history of the Pet Pantry Warehouse began in 1945 with World War II Army Air Forces servicemen, Mort Davis and Jac Cohen. The pair formed their alliance over a British puppy adopted by Davis while stationed in wartime England. After accomplishing a stateside transfer for the lucky pup, the two remained friends, joining forces in the pet food business. Davis passed away in the late ‘60s, but Cohen soldiered on with their enterprise through 1995, when the business was purchased by Barry Jacobson and his sons Adam and Ari, who run the business today. When the business was re-conceived in 1995, the large warehouse space which was home to the original Pet Pantry was converted into a more modern shopping experience and a new business model was born. The success of the reformatted business paved the way for additional locations. Today these locations include Rye, Larchmont, and Scarsdale in Westchester County (New York) and New Canaan, Wilton, Greenwich, and Fairfield in Fairfield County (Connecticut).  pppwpet.com #ppwpet @ppwpet
