Fairfield, CT - September is National Sewing Month. In celebration, join one of the Fairfield Woods Branch Library’s Sewing Salon classes. Whatever your skill, the Library hopes to inspire you to be creative.
Learn to sew for free and earn your sewing machine “driver’s license” during the Wednesday night Sewing Studio. In these introductory classes, you will learn how to thread and operate a sewing machine, learn to read a pattern and start working on a project that speaks to you. These classes meet every Wednesday at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road at 6:00 p.m.
In addition, consider Sew Crafty Saturdays the first Saturday of each month at 1:00 p.m. These free classes are held in the Sewing Studio at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library and for ages 18 years and older. On October 3 we will be making a cloth bag that may be used as a shopping bag or a bag to hold your Halloween treats. Pick up a program catalog at the Library to see what we will be making in November and December.
The Fairfield Woods Branch Library offers Purls of Wisdom, a knitting and crocheting group that meets every Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon. Whether you are an advanced knitter or just learning, this is a great group to join. Also the American Sewing Guild meets at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library the third Saturday of each month from 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. Bring a lunch, work on personal sewing projects and learn new sewing techniques.
