FAIRFIELD, CONN -- Nearly 120 people descended on the Jacky Durrell Pavilion on September 5th to honor State Representative Tony Hwang, former Board of Education member Alexa Mullady and Representative Town Meeting member Bryan Cafferelli for their service to the town and to the Republican party.
“Tony Hwang, Alexa Mullady and Bryan Cafferelli have consistently been committed to the Town of Fairfield and Connecticut and have been leaders in community and public service, and are stalwart workers for the greater good,” said RTC Chairman Jamie Millington. “Celebrating their contributions and accomplishments had special meaning as they are shining examples for many members of the Republican party and voters at both a state and local level.”
One of the party’s most diligent workers, Mullady’s involvement in the Fairfield GOP goes back to the late 1990s when she won a seat on the Representative Town Meeting, in which she served a two-year term and was a member of its Public Health and Safety Committee. In 2001, she was elected the Fairfield Board of Education for a six-year term, serving on many committees, most notably the policy committee and was vice chair from 2006 to 2007.A long-time member of Fairfield’s PTA’s, Mullady has also worked behind the scenes on many Republican campaigns starting with Brenda Kupchick’s run for state representative in 1998 serving as her treasurer, and most recently as campaign manager and treasurer for the Brenda 2014 campaign. Mullady joined the Republican Town Committee in 1999 and has served as chair of the Rules Committee for the past three years.
Cafferelli is a veteran of numerous successful statewide and local campaigns in Connecticut, including serving as Governor Rell’s political director in her overwhelming 2006 victory. He served as chief of staff and legal counsel to Lt. Governor Michael Fedele during his administration and then as the executive director of the Connecticut Republican Party from 2011 to 2013. Most recently, Cafferelli served as David Walker’s campaign manager in his bid for lieutenant governor. A Connecticut native, Cafferelli graduated from Staples High School in Westport and the University of Connecticut School of Law.
