Darien Arts Center Opens Annex Studio with Community Celebration

Darien Arts Center is delighted to announce the expansion of its Dance Academy and the opening of its new studio space, The ANNEX, on Sunday, May 4th at 537 Post Road with all-day festivities beginning at 12:00 pm.

The celebration kicks off with a ribbon cutting, family brunch, and a performance by the DACDA Company pre-professional dancers. The day continues with free classes for ages 3 through adult in Creative Movement, Hip Hop, Ballet, Contemporary, and Latin Jazz—all open to the public, with no prior dance experience required.

Located in the heart of Darien, the Darien Arts Center Dance Academy is dedicated to fostering creativity and community through exemplary pre-professional dance training. The ANNEX Studio represents a vibrant expansion of the Academy—a nurturing hub for dancers of all ages and skill levels, offering a wide variety of classes in ballet, contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and lyrical.

Claire Mazza, Dance Director at the Darien Arts Center, shared her excitement about the opening:“This expansion is such a big step for the institution, but even more than that, I find it is inspiring! While this new space will increase the academy’s footprint, it will also expand the community’s accessibility to dance and our ability to give students a well-rounded education in the art of dance. This is important now more than ever. I can’t wait to reveal new offerings for the Fall and really hope people of all ages and dance backgrounds drop by on May 4th to have a bite, try a class and get acquainted with the DACDA dance-family. We are enthusiastic and welcoming, and I can't wait to see what we all build together.”

This exciting addition comes during the Darien Arts Center’s 50th anniversary year and reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality arts education for the community. This event is free and open to the public, though donations are warmly welcomed.
