National Honor Society Induction

Last night, Darien High School inducted 64 juniors and seniors into the National Honor Society.  Selection is based on the Four Pillars of NHS: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  The application process can be seen here.  Mr. Keith Keeler is the faculty advisor to NHS.

The Faulty Address was given by Mr. Francis Janosco who compared the poem The Snow Man, by Wallace Stevens, to the Four Pillars of the National Honor Society.  An apt comparison given that last night was indeed the snow date for the original induction ceremony.

Current NHS officers Cameron Van de Graaf (President), Austin McLaughlin (Vice President), Bettina Arkhurs (Treasurer), Matthew Ross (Secretary) and Rohit Datta (historian) presented a summary of each of the Four Pillars and lit candles.  Inductees were each given a candle and were officially inducted in a candle lighting ceremony.
