From folk to reggae, singer/songwriter Ben Taylor (son of James Taylor & Carly Simon) in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse

As the son of James Taylor and Carly Simon, Ben Taylor’s life was always centered on music. Making music has become as natural as breathing to Ben whose songwriting defies genre definitions. He seamlessly merges a vast variety of styles he was exposed to as a kid into his memorable melodies and insightful lyrics. He has forged his own career in music and will bring his impeccable acoustic pop, rock, folk and hip-hop style, demonstrated by his latest album Listening, to the stage of The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, July 8, at 8 p.m.  Special guest is Jann Klose, a German-born pop singer-songwriter and actor who has been on Broadway in Tommy, Jekyll & Hyde and Jesus Christ Superstar. Restaurant sponsor is The Ancient Mariner (451 Main St., Ridgefield) where diners can enjoy a free glass of house wine with dinner the night of the show when tickets are shown. This event is part of the Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer/Songwriter Series.

Listening is Ben Taylor’s first album in four years, the last being the critically acclaimed The Legend of Kung Folk Part 1, which had CNN commenting that the album “…reflects the broad palette of pop”.

Ben Taylor has performed on Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, The CBS Morning Show and Last Call with Carson Daily, and he was featured on an A&E Biography profile.  Taylor’s image has been seen in countless magazines including People Magazine and Vogue, and on the cover of Rolling Stone.
