Native of Danbury, Robert James Bishop, 64, has Died

Robert James Bishop, 64, of Brookfield, died unexpectedly on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Bob was born in Danbury, CT on November 14, 1959; a son of the late Louise (Saviano) and Edward G. Bishop Sr. He attended St. Peter's School and Henry Abbott Technical School.

A life-long Danbury area resident, Bob was a retired pipe and steam fitter having worked in Local 777 for over 30 years before retiring in 2015. He was an avid New York Yankee and New York Giant fan and loved his weekly trips to Shop Rite in Brookfield. He loved watching the birds in the yard and feeding the squirrels and chipmunks who came to visit. He adored and cherished his cats as they did him. He was known for being dependable and reliable and was almost always in attendance at the sporting events for his nieces and nephews. He was also known to express his political opinion often.

Robert is survived by his wife Carole (Miller) Bishop as well as his brother Timothy Bishop and his wife, Linda. Also, sister-in-law Laurie Bishop. Additionally, Bob is survived by nieces Nicole, Renee, Jamie and Alexandra and nephews Matt, TJ, David, Chris and CJ and several great nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Eddie, and his nephew Ryan.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 10:30 AM in Saint Peter’s Church; 121 Main Street, Danbury. Interment will take place privately.
