Carmel High School was represented by 38 student-musician performers in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Zone 10 Area All-State Festival hosted at Brewster schools November 19-20.
Students selected for the Area All-State festival are considered the best of all the student-performers in NYSSMA Zone 10, which includes Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia counties. In order to be eligible for the Area All-State designation, students had to submit their previous spring NYSSMA solo festival scores.
"The Carmel Central School District music department is extremely proud of these students for representing Carmel,” said Meghan Cabral, director of music for the District. “These students are extremely dedicated to not only their musical careers but to their academics as well. It is impressive to see them balance high academic course loads along with this high honor of being accepted into the Area All-State ensembles. Their commitment to not only the school community but also to the music department is astonishing.”
