It’s Schech's 50th Anniversary!

Today, May 4, 2019, Schech's Pool Spa Patio Celebrated it's 50th Anniversary with a Ribbon Cutting and Celebration at their Brewster location. In attendance were the Schech Family and staff, Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell, Members of the Brewster and Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce, and valued customers. Here is their amazing story:
 
 

It’s Schech's 50th Anniversary!

They have grown up with you, watched your families grow and have had the honor of serving your family and your pool for five decades. Schech's thanks all of their amazing customers for bringing them 50 great years of business.
 
Schech’s Pool Spa Patio is Putnam County’s oldest pool store. They were founded in 1969 by builder Herb Schech when he started installing pools for his clients. Schech’s Pool Spa Patio is the very definition of an iconic Putnam County business.  It’s a true family-run company, built from the ground floor up thanks to repeat business by longtime loyal customers started by Herb Schech and Irene Schech five decades ago.

From the start, the company was known as a family business. Herb’s son Ed Schech joined the business and by 1978 he was doing pool installations.  Herb and Irene’s daughter’s Barbara Schech Freer came into the business in 1972 on the retail side, and Irene R. Schech joined in 1977. All worked through high school and college.  In 2006 Ed and Irene went off to do other things.  Herb’s wife Irene had another, but all of the family have been involved in the business throughout the years. 

By the early 90’s the Schech’s decided to stop installing pools and focus more on retail, service and maintenance.  Barbara Schech Freer now owns the company and enjoys working with some of the same customers that she has had the privilege to know for five decades.

Schech's offers a full line of BioGuard pool and spa chemicals, Dimension One Spas, Hayward pool equipment, Maytronics Dolphin robotic pool cleaners, a wide variety of pool toys and games, CR Plastics Adirondack chairs and patio furniture, Meyco Safety covers and so much more!

Their services include: Pool openings and closings, weekly pool maintenance, hot tub valet service, salt pool equipment installation, small pool repairs, and pool equipment installation (pumps, filters, heaters).

Schech’s looks forward to seeing the fourth generation in the business soon.  At Schech’s, pools are not just what they do, it is who they are.
