Popular self-serve frozen yogurt chain opens in Brookfield
Thursday night was perfect for the opening of the latest craze in frozen yogurt shops; namely Peachwave. After summer-like temps during the day, it was still in the 70's at 6:00 p.m. when they first opened their doors in Brookfield.
The Clifford family of Danbury are the ones responsible for the new attraction at Four Corners, after finding success in other nearby towns (Bethel, Ridgefield, New Fairfield and Newtown) within the last two years, when the company first came into being.
William Clifford opened the first four shops, and now his son Scott and daughter-in-law Jessica have followed suit, bringing a total of five shops within the immediate area.
The draw is a unique blend of healthy eating and simple pricing. Retro furnishing, bright lighting and a tropical color theme can't help but make customers feel cheerful.
The biggest challenge is deciding on which flavor (or combination of flavors) to get at the row of dispensers before heading to the topping bar. And if you're worried about grams of fat, sodium content, calories or anything else you're watching - no worries; it's all spelled out next to the generous take-out bowls at the starting line.
The streets of Four Corners won't be the same, with the easy in and out parking, thanks to the vacant gas station next door and wide-street parking on both sides of Federal Road across from the Mother Earth Gallery.
As eager customers pulled up and wandered in, there is no doubt this will be THE after-school, after-sports, date-night, lake-goer's or motorcyclist's favorite stop in town.
Peachwave hours are noon to 11:00 p.m. daily.
