Six local students were awarded continuing education scholarships from the Brewster Chamber of Commerce. President, Candice Sciarrillo stated, “Our award selects students who exemplify scholarship, leadership, have participated in a significant degree of extracurricular activities, community and volunteer service and plan to continue their education in an accredited institution. These students are destined to be our future leaders in business and service. Thus, it is our Chamber's effort to support their endeavors.”
Each of the students submitted an essay about how their community helped them prepare for college and work experience. The recipients of the $500 award went to the following:
Katherine Cueva – will be entering University of Buffalo.
Camden DiCarlo – will be entering Colgate University,
Scott Feighan –will be entering University of Buffalo, and the Chamber’s long time student intern,
Charlotte Greene –will be entering Marist College
To honor the memory of the Chamber’s long time member and past president, Geoffrey Reinwald, the Chamber awarded Nolan Hawthorne the “Geoffrey Reinwald Memorial Scholarship” of $1000. Nolan will be entering Pace University in the fall.
Scholarship co- chairman, Kate Corsitto said, “Our Chamber works all year long to be able to award these scholarships. Each time a chamber member supports the raffle at a dinner meeting, that money is earmarked for the scholarship fund.
We wish all the awardees and the class of 2020 the best of luck and success.
