KATNISS EVERGREEN BY A SNOUT

Saint Mary School's annual pig race was held on Monday,10/6/14, and the 6th grade class triumphed with their winning entry, "Katniss Evergreen".  The mechanical pig race is held at the end of St. Mary's magazine drive every year.  Each class, from Pre-K through 8th grade, decides on a name, and often embellishes their pig with accessories (a bow and arrow for "Katniss", a crown for "Princess").  All the students gather in the gym and loudly cheer on their class entry as the porcine creatures head to the finish line, complete with oinks and squeals!  According to co-chair Kathy Friscia, this year's magazine drive netted close to $5,000 for the Home School Association.
