Bethel Helps Define Excellence in Education for the 21st Century!

I knew what I was about to hear was something AMAZING for Bethel schools when I looked around the room and realized I was surrounded by Bethel's principals, administrators and Board members.  In case there was any doubt, in the introduction Dr Kevin Smith referred to Charlotte Danielson as a Rock Star!

Bethel schools are one of only four districts in the nation selected to set the standard for teachers across the country.  Hold on that is worth repeating: One in ONLY four in the NATION!  Bethel was chosen by Charlotte Danielson because of the extraordinary teaching and large concentration of distinguished teachers.    

Teaching is a tough job, explains Danielson, teaching is emotionally challenging, physically demanding as well as intellectually tiring with the 100's of decisions being made each day.  It is hard enough to get from good to great and then the common core raises the bar and teachers panic.  Rightfully so!  By filming these distinguished teachers in action they have the ability to tap into the thinking that sets them apart from the masses.  This research will be conducted from September 2013 to March 2014.  

The recent change in common core state standards demand much more thinking and collaboration of complex text.  Danielson says this research will facilitate learning from high level teachers how to teach more rigorous content.  

Just like the title says:  Bethel will help define excellence in education for the 21st century!  What an honor for Bethel teachers!
