The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is one of the few non-collecting contemporary art museums in the United States. Founded on Ridgefield’s historic Main Street in 1964, the Museum enjoys the curatorial independence of an alternative space while maintaining the registrarial and art-handling standards of a national institution. Exhibitions feature work by emerging and mid-career artists, and education programs help adults and children to connect to today’s world through contemporary art.
To celebrate the birthday of founder, Larry Aldrich, there is FREE admission to the Museum from June 13th to 24th. Now is the perfect time to visit one of Ridgefield's "gems."
In addition, The Aldrich offers Family Drop-In Weekends: Hands-On Activities. During the weekends, visitors are given the opportunity to extend their visits and learn more about the work and the ideas on view in our exhibitions. Just stop by the Education Center to enjoy self-guided, hands-on projects for all age levels. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Here are a few upcoming events:
On Thursday, June 9th from 5:30 pm to 7 pm, celebrate Ridgefield’s Newest Porch at the Old Hundred Ribbon Cutting.
Join the staff and Trustees of The Aldrich in celebrating the restoration of the front porch to the Old Hundred administration building. The porch completes the historic preservation of one of Ridgefield’s Main Street landmarks, bringing back its early twentieth-century appearance. We will enjoy light refreshments and cut the ribbon and raise a toast to Old Hundred at 6 pm!
