On Friday night, teammates on Ridgefield Little League's Ridgefield Pet were treated to more than catching, throwing and hitting practice by their coaches, Stefan Karlson and Bill Flanagan. Former major league pitcher Dave Fleming stopped by the field to help them with their pitching.
A stand-out at the University of Georgia who spent most of his Major League career as part of the Seattle Mariners organization, New York-born Dave Fleming was, "the best starting pitcher on the Mariners staff in 1992. (As a left-hander), he won 17 games, posted a 3.39 ERA, completed seven of the 33 games he started and tossed four shutouts, (Jim Street/MLB.com). Now a teacher in Connecticut, he spends most his days in the classroom working with kids on their math equations and not their wind-up! If you'd like to read more about Dave Fleming, here is an article by former Sports Illustrated writer, Jeff Pearlman, that tells the story of the pitcher and the man.

Come out and support the girls team as they recognize their graduating seniors and play their second to last home game of the season!
Senior Day is a very special event that begins with a ceremony honoring the senior players with the presentation of flowers by some of our youth players. And don't miss the traditional half-time exhibition game featuring RYL 5/6th grade girls teams. This is a wonderful tradition that has come to symbolize the full circle of girls lacrosse in Ridgefield, from youth players to graduating high school varsity players.

Update (May 10th): Little League Night will be today (Thursday, May 10th) at Ciucolli Field at 4 pm. It was postponed yesterday due to weather.
Come one, come all!
Continuing the tradition of Ridgefield High School baseball's support of Ridgefield Little League, this Wednesday, May 9th, is Little League Night as the RHS Varsity Tigers take on Fairfield Warde at 4 pm at Ciucolli Field. Come out to not only support the Tigers, but to demonstrate to our Little Leaguers the high level of play of FCIAC baseball. The mascot - yeah, the Tiger - will be in attendance (and he'll announce that RLL is there), the concession stand will be open, and the RHS players will hang out with the Little Leaguers after the game.
Even if you stop by for 15 minutes, come out to support the Tigers and show our kids baseball on the big diamond!
