Tigers Shut-Out Maine High School Tournament in Triumphant Return

The RHS Boys Ice Hockey Team returned to the Maine High School Invitational Tournament this week, and again for the second year in a row, came away from the tournament undefeated.

In the first game, the Ridgefield Tigers out-skated, out-hustled, and out-scored the host team the Biddeford Tigers (who have been Maine State Champions 3 of the last 5 years) in a lopsided 11-0 win. The goalie tandem of Nate Gliedman and Dusty Rausa totally shut down the home team, while 10 different Tigers tallied goals or assists. Sean Wilkinson lead the Tigers with a hat trick and 3 assists, while Timmy Kelly celebrated his birthday with a two goal, two assist performance. Defenseman Danny McMullan got into the scoring column with two goals and two assists. Senior Terry Guider added his first goal of the season, while two sophomores, Jack Tregurtha and Tyler Trombetta added their first Tiger goals.  The defense was anchored by strong performances from McMullan, Brendan Bossidy, Jamie Kelly, and Henry Gough. 

In the second game, just 16 hours later, the Tigers again showed superior hockey skills in beating the Bangor Rams, 9-0. In this afternoon matinee, Dusty Rausa shut down the Rams, while his team mates, added goals in quantity once again. Leading the scoring assault, was Sean Wilkinson with a 4 point game (2 goals and 2 assists -- Wilkinson continues his hot play with 7 goals in his last 3 games) while Danny McMullan (2 goals, 1 assist), Terry Guider (2 goals, 1 assist), and Johnny Richards (1 goal and 2 assists) chipped in with 3 points each. Senior Timmy Kelly added a goal and an assist in the assault. Sophomore defenseman, Henry Gough tallied his first goal of the year with a short-handed goal in the 1st period to put the Tigers up 2-0.

The Tigers return to action in Connecticut on Saturday, January 7th at home at the Garden against Xavier at 8:50pm.
