It's beginning to look alot like Halloween... well, it soon will!
Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Department is hosting their Halloween Window Painting again this year, on Saturday, October 15th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, with a rain date of Sunday, October 16th from 12:00 - 4:00 pm. Please be at the Recreation Center at 9:30 am (11:30 am if event is held on Sunday) to pick up your paints and supplies.
All individuals or teams, limited to five participants, must complete an application. Click HERE for an application. The application DEADLINE is Thursday, October 13th. Drop off application at the Recreation Center front desk. Window assignments will be posted at the Recreation Center front office Friday, October 14th, or call 431-2755 for assignments.
This event is an opportunity for Ridgefield teenagers to express their talent in beautifying the community during the Halloween season. However, to make this event successful, there are a few simple guidelines and rules. They are listed below:
The program is open to all Ridgefield residents in grade 6 through 12. This is not a contest but an event for fun!
The event is free of charge, but registration is limited. Applications will be processed on a "first-come, first-serve" basis.
If there are any questions concerning weather, call the program information hotline at 203-431-2760. In the event of a rain out, there will be a message on the machine Saturday morning.
The Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Department will supply the paints. Additional paint will be available in front of Town Hall throughout the day. Probable colors will be white, yellow, orange, brown, green and red.
Each participant will supply: step ladders, if needed, brushes, water, containers to mix paint, newspaper, trash bags, rags and masking tape.
Participants will be charged if: paint drips on the sidewalk, brickwork, or any area other than the merchant's window. Cover the non-glass area with newspaper before starting to paint.
All participants must remove the paint by 5 pm on Sunday, November 6th or parents will be charged for Town employees to remove it. DO NOT use black or dark blue paint in the picture. Participants must leave a one-inch border free from paint around their work.
Participants will be able to seek advice or suggestions from any person or source, but participants must do the actual work.
Each participant will be required to print, in white paint, his or her name and grade on the lower left-hand corner of the window.
No participant is to interfere with the carrying on of normal business within the store whose window is being painted (i.e., using restrooms, borrowing water and paper towels). Town Hall will be open for your use.
