DUI Arrest

A Ridgefield youthful offender turned himself in on an arrest warrant that was applied for events that took place December 11, 2011. The accused was processed according to Department policy and released on a $2,500 bond that was placed on him by Danbury Superior Court. He was released to his parents.

Leaving scene of accident

A Norwalk man was turning right into the BMW of Ridgefield parking lot when another vehicle rear-ended his vehicle. The man was transported to Danbury Hospital by a Ridgefield ambulance for evaluation. It is unknown at this time who was driving the other vehicle as it fled the scene just after the accident occurred. The accident is under investigation.  The new BMW of Ridgefied sign was hit as a result of the accident.

Narcotics on Pine Mountain Road

Police conducted a K-9 exterior sniff of a vehicle that was parked at the top of Pine Mt. Road. After Zeus smelled marijuana, the interior of the vehicle was searched. Police found pot and several items of drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle. An 18 year old Ridgefield male was issued an infraction for both violations.

Passing standing school bus

Ridgefield Police received a complaint of a motorist passing a stopped bus. Bothe witnesses advised that a red Jeep Grand Cherokee illegally passed schoolbus #2886 when the bus was stopped with its lights activated. Both witnesses completed sworn written statements. The operator of the Jeep was contacted and responded to Ridgefield Police. He was issued a citation and fined $465.00

Possession of alcohol by a minor

While investigating a suspicious motor vehicle on Prospect Ridge Rd, it was determined that the operator was in violation of passenger restrictions and was also in possession of alcohol by a minor. The operator was 16 years of age and had received an operator’s licenses three months earlier. All juveniles were picked up by their parents at the scene.

February 12

DUI and MVA on West Lane

Police responded to a minor two car motor vehicle accident on West Lane near Main Street (Rt 35) and the Fountain. After a brief investigation, it was revealed that the operator of one of the vehicles, a Ridgefield woman, was intoxicated. She was arrested for DUI and following too close and was transported to Ridgefield Police Department where she was processed and released. It was determined that she had rear-ended another vehicle. Both cars had minor damages.

2 Car MVA on Branchville Road with injuries

A two car motor vehicle accident with injuries occurred on Branchville Road at the intersection of Ivy Hill Road. The operator of vehicle #1, a man from Nyack, NY, was traveling westbound on Branchville Road. The operator of vehicle #2, a man from Bethel, was traveling eastbound on Branchville Road.  As vehicle #2 negotiated a curve, he lost control of his vehicle on the wet roadway and crossed over the double yellow lines into the westbound lane where he struck vehicle #1.  The impact of the collision pushed vehicle #1 into a utility pole. The owner of vehicle #2 was issued an infraction for driving too fast for conditions. Both operators were transported to the hospital for evaluation.

February 15

Disorderly Conduct

At approximately 2:30pm today, Ridgefield Police responded to 55 Prospect Street for the report of a man yelling, screaming and banging on doors. Upon arrival, police found a Ridgefield man under the influence and acting disorderly. He was issued a summons for disorderly conduct and transported to Danbury Hospital.
