"PICTURE THIS: A winding, 200(ish) mile running relay event in New York like you’ve never experienced.  Starting in Bethel, the real home of Woodstock, you and 11 of your pals will run day and night, relay style, through the mighty Catskills (what they mean: large, rolling hills). This running race (and your stamina) will wrap up in beautiful Weschester County (Dobbs Ferry), taking in the view of New York City’s legendary skyline. This isn’t your average 10K or half marathon, this is Ragnar!"
The Mom Squad ~ twelve moms from Ridgefield ~ pictured it, and so did 213 other teams, when they competed in the New York Ragnar Relay!
On May 13th and 14th, for 197 miles, these twelve moms were running both day and night, over hills and valleys, and each completed 3 legs of the 36 leg race (totaling between 14 to 22 miles each).  And in typical 'mom-helping-mom" fashion, when because of work, one mom couldn't run one of her legs, Carolyn Couture, another local mom, pitched-in to help. The Mom Squad finished the 197 miles in 31 1/2 hours.
Signs on the vans included: "Mom Squad," "The Mamas and the Papa" (a play-on-words with one participant's last name), and "40 Kids Left Behind, 12 Stressed Out Dads, This Is Easier Than Labor and Delivery!"
Participants (left to right):  Bea O'Malley, Kathy Lang, Kim Marshall, Beth Munnelly, Noreen Papa, Abigail Kagan, Deb Povinelli, Kristen Hoban, Tehri Gasparrini, Cathy Snopkowski, Betsy Fitzpatrick and Lisa Haden; not pictured: Carolyn Couture.
Congratulations!!!
