Dear RHS Community,
My name is Leslie Brown and I am the TeenTalk Counselor at Ridgefield High School. My office is located in Room B325 (on the 3rd floor where the old and new wings connect, next door to F306).
For those of you who are unaware of the Program or are new to Ridgefield, the TeenTalk Program is a collaborative effort between Kids in Crisis and the Town of Ridgefield. Kids in Crisis is a non-profit agency located in Cos Cob, CT that offers free, round the clock crisis intervention counseling and prevention Programs for children and their families along with short term respite care for children and teens. The TeenTalk Program includes the full array of services provided by Kids in Crisis and is currently being implemented in several schools in Fairfield County, including ERMS.
The role of the Kids in Crisis TeenTalk Counselor is to provide support for students and their families, and to be an additional resource for all of the RHS staff. As the TeenTalk Counselor I provide crisis intervention and short term therapeutic services to the students at RHS, both individual and group counseling. I am available as a support to any student facing any type of emotional, social or interpersonal challenges. I also assist students and their families in finding additional community resources when appropriate and am able to refer students and families to the 24 hour Helpline and Outreach services at Kids in Crisis for those who need support after school hours. You can always reach a crisis trained, professional Kids in Crisis Outreach counselor through the 24 hour telephone Helpline at (203) 327-KIDS.
I have lived in the Ridgefield area most of my life and feel very fortunate to be actively involved in the growth process at RHS, and to be working with a faculty and student body that support this program. I will be visiting classes and meeting with students around campus, but also encourage students to stop by B325 to check in or just to say hello. Please call me if you have any questions. I can be reached at 438-3785 ex 1210 or
I look forward to the new school year and meeting you face to face in the future.
Sincerely,
Leslie Brown, LCSW
