Laurel Ridge Health Care, 642 Danbury Road (Route 7), will conduct a free memory screening day for those who are concerned about memory loss. The confidential screening will be on Tuesday, November 15th, from 11am – 2pm by appointment only. The screening takes about 15 minutes and will assess basic memory and other cognitive functioning which can be used by your physician for proper diagnosis. This event is part of the annual National Memory Screening Day sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Foundations of America in order to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. Early detection is key in promoting overall cognitive wellness and an initial memory screening can uncover concerns about memory problems. Screenings are important when a person first notices signs of early cognitive impairment, such as difficulty completing mental tasks, confusion about time or place, and mood swings associated with forgetfulness. Memory screenings are a significant first step toward finding out if a person may have a memory problem, therefore, early detection through memory screening tests are critical.
