Q. Is the Library going to use geothermal technology for its heating and cooling in the new building?
A. While it is true that we were looking closely at geothermal at one time, we have determined that there are other alternatives for heating and cooling which, when coupled with an new, energy-efficient building envelope, will yield comparable results at a lower cost. Managing our future energy consumption is a top priority in our design process, and we have been exploring a number of ways to achieve this.
