Welcome to Makers Night, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum's new series of hands-on adult workshops.

The first workshop, Makers Night! Adult Workshop #1: Sound & Sewing, will be on Thursday, September 22nd from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.

In Sound & Sewing, the first of Roxanne Lasky-led workshops (previously called Threads of Meaning), participants will partake in a stitching project inspired by Chelpa Ferro’s Visual Sound exhibition. The installations will encourage students to awaken their senses with sound and scent as Lasky guides novice and expert sewers in new and exciting ways to tell their personal stories.

Makers Night, The Aldrich’s NEW do-it-yourself workshop series offers informal, hands-on, creative experiences for artisans at all levels of ability. The sessions will emphasize observation, process, and discussion through diverse art-making activities. The approximately two-hour workshops will often refer to the Museum's current exhibitions, providing opportunities for visitors to explore a wide range of themes and media, but will also draw inspiration from new creative trends. Led by Museum educators and local artists, the evening workshops will provide a social environment in which participants can learn to express themselves, work with unusual materials, consider new ideas, and engage in fun processes. Discover the elements of design and tap into your innate creative abilities at The Aldrich!
