Recently, a mom who homeschools her children stopped by the Ridgefield Library’s Children’s Services Department and struck up a conversation with department head Geri Diorio. They spoke about what fiction books her family enjoys, the new Evergreen Library catalog, and about the many online resources her family uses through the Library’s website. When she asked about other homeschooling families in town, Geri had to tell her that she only knew of one or two. The mom suggested that the Ridgefield Library host a meet-up for homeschooler - a morning when homeschooling families could come to the Library to see what materials we can offer them, meet the librarians, then take some time to mingle over refreshments. Since we are always open to suggestions, as well as always trying to accommodate our patrons’ needs, Geri immediately agreed.
All homeschoolers are welcome to come to a meet-up at the Ridgefield Library’s Children’s Services Department on Monday, September 26 from 10:30 to 12:00. The Children’s Department staff will give a tour of the physical Library building, as well as a tour of the website and online resources. Please call 203-438-2272 x 1024 to register so we don’t run short on the refreshments!
