Hot Button Topic: Publishing the Bus Routes of Ridgefield's Children!
Ridgefielders are beginning to talk... and it's about the bus stops around Ridgefield!
For many years, at the end of summer, Ridgefield Public Schools have published their bus routes in The Ridgefield Press. These publicized routes include the school name, the bus number, the start time of the route, and all the stops a bus will make, including street names and house numbers. There has always been a small vocal minority against the publication of bus routes, but now with some recent incidents at local bus stops that have required a police presence, more and more parents want this publication to end for the safety of their children.
Proponents of unpublished bus routes see the Ridgefield Public School's Campus Portal as a great way to get the bus route information to parents, and not to others. According to the Ridgefield Public Schools website, "Campus Portal is live and in the first phase of implementation. Every parent or guardian of a student in Ridgefield Public Schools should have received a Portal Invitation Letter with an Activation key to create a Campus Portal Login ID and Password. The Ridgefield Public Schools use Infinite Campus as a student data management system. Our Campus Portal component of Infinite Campus provides instant, online, timely and secure access to student information for your children enrolled in the Ridgefield Public Schools. To access the Campus Portal you will need a log-in ID and password."
