Newsweek Magazine Lists Ridgefield High School in its 1,000 Best Public High Schools in America

Newsweek Magazine has just released its ranking of America's Best (Public) High Schools, and once again, Ridgefield High School has made the list.

According to Newsweek, "Who is leading the charge? This year, our ranking highlights the best 1,000 public high schools in the nation—the ones that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads. At these schools, 91 percent were accepted to college, with an average AP score of 3.4 (out of 5 )—21 percent above the 2.8 average for public-school students."

Coming-in at No. 319, Ridgefield High School is ranked 5th among other public high schools in Connecticut, and 3rd in Fairfield County, behind Weston High School and Staples (Westport) High School. "The list is based on six components provided by school administrators: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered  per student (5 percent)," reveals Newsweek.

Among the questions we’ll address:
