On Thursday, March 8, from 6 to 8 pm, the Connecticut Chapter of the Women’s Caucus for Art will host an opening reception for a new exhibition titled "A Changing World: Women Respond."
The show, which runs from March 1-30, will feature 40 works by 24 women artists from around the state. The works encompass painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, photography, and installation art. The art speaks to the ways in which women see their changing roles with regard to issues that affect our social, political and societal structures and the exhibit demonstrates the power of art to affect our hearts and minds, and perhaps even to change opinions.
Themes addressed in the show include: contemporary feminism, the image of women in myth, and women in roles varying from CEO to wife & mother, to goddess. Some works address how violence and terrorism are seen through the feminine lens. An overarching theme is the strength and stamina of women in the face of a changing world.
Event site: One University Place, Stamford, CT.
