Bridgeport, CT – Proving that art is leading a remarkable renaissance and helping drive the economy in Bridgeport, dozens of people flocked to Gallery 305K late Saturday afternoon to ogle artwork produced by 13 resident artists.

The open house, run by gallery manager Eileen Walsh, rolled out a spread of finger foods and hosted an open bar. The food and drink only served to enhance the mood and energy in the converted factory space at 305 Knowlton Street.

Paintings, photography, sculptures and other mixed media were included in the pieces on display. Artists represented included Allen Wittert, Rebecca Schwartz, Austin Siegert, Herm Freeman, Jackie Podlaski, Kate Callahan, Katie Bakes, Jose Diaz and Joe Malfettone.

Besides the formal show on the main level, artists’ studios on the second level could be toured. The work and the rustic structure of the building, once the home of the Armstrong Manufacturing Company, which created steam fitters tools, made for an interesting blend. Visitors chatted with artists, artists milled about with other artists and the gathering buzzed merrily along.
